ASKED QUESTION
IS THERE ANY DANGER WITH HYPNOSIS?
The only way hypnosis could be dangerous would be if it were used
to take away pain. For example, if a person were to be hypnotically
released from the pain of a stomach ache, he would not have the pain
to let him know that there may be a
medical
problem. That also include pains such as headaches, and body pain of
any kind. If a medical doctor has ruled out any physical reasons
as to why you have the pains, then it is acceptable to work with
someone with their physicians permission. It has been noted
that after most hypnotic
sessions, people report that they sleep better at night and are more relaxed
during their daily life.
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
To explain hypnosis, it might be best to
explain what
hypnosis is not.
When
a person is hypnotized, they are not asleep or unconscious, they are
in a state of sleepy alertness similar to daydreaming. The hypnotized individual is aware of everything that is taking
place. Even after being brought out of hypnosis, a person will be
able to recall anything that took place during the session.
Hypnosis is a very normal, natural state that most of us experience
every day. An example of daily hypnosis would be driving a car and
realizing that you can't remember the last three or four streets you
just passed. Perhaps you drove
right by your exit! Another example would be a person
watching television. When another member of the family enters and
announces that dinner is ready, the person watching television doesn't
respond! These are examples of a light hypnotic state. In both cases
the conscious part of the mind had been distracted, allowing the subconscious
part of the mind to take over. During a hypnotic session, an individual
will achieve a very deep and successful state of hypnosis. The following
are questions that are frequently asked by individuals prior to being
hypnotized. |

WILL I DO SOMETHING AGAINST MY WILL?
When you are hypnotized, you are aware of all suggestions given to
you, and you will not do anything that you are opposed to doing. You
will never go against your true values..
CAN
I BE TRICKED WHILE IN HYPNOSIS?
A
person can not be tricked into doing something under hypnosis any
easier than they could in a conscious state. And a person cannot be
hypnotized against their will.
IS HYPNOSIS HABIT FORMING?
No. Hypnosis is a very enjoyable state of relaxation, but a person
never becomes addicted to hypnosis.
WHO CAN BE HYPNOTIZED?
Just about anyone can be hypnotized, from the very young to the very
elderly.
WHAT IF YOU CAN'T BRING ME OUT OF IT?
There is no danger of a person failing to come out of the hypnotic
state. In fact, it would be impossible to remain hypnotized. Even
if the hypnotist left the office while an individual was in the hypnotic
state, there would be no danger. The person would drift off into a
natural state of sleep and would awaken after they rested. Just as
you are in no danger of being stuck while in a daydream. |
